Preppy Chic: Pleated Shorts

I’m excited to announce that these shorts were our 100th sale today at Castaway Vintage!  I hope to have our 200th by next month 🙂

Let’s just say giant pleated golf shorts aren’t really the first thing I would pull off the rack for myself, but I’ve been seeing a lot of this pleated shorts/pants trend and decided to try it out.  These were quite a bit longer (not attractive!) so I rolled them up to make them cuter- not your mom’s shorts anymore!  I think paired with a fitted top, I chose this preppy-Parisian vintage Liz Claiborne top it balances out the looseness of the shorts.  Paired with some modern accessories they are definitely no longer “mom-shorts”.

Since these did sell out right away,  I’ll be keeping my eye out for a replacement, meanwhile check out some other new items just posted last night on Castaway Vintage!

50’s Shorts

Happy Friday! I almost died when I found these vintage 1950’s blue and white gingham plaid high waisted shorts from Sears Junior Bazaar- from what I gather, the ‘teen’ diffusion line of the retro Sears fashion label. Perfect for a picnic! Plaid is one of my favorite prints along with stripes and polka dots, and blue is one of my favorite colors along with red!  They are cut so well and shaped just oh so perfectly, from an era where cut and fit truly mattered, and clothing was crafted with care and quality.

A classic era where shorts were rarely worn anywhere besides the beach, yet were embodied by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Betty Grable.

I paired them with a classic white button down and my favorite red wedges.  I really wish they were my size, but since they aren’t, they can be found now in the Etsy shop!

New Etsy Sneak Peek

Happy Tuesday!  Did another photoshoot this weekend of some more great summer items coming to the shop this week, as soon as I can sort through all the photos and get them listed!  I’m a day behind now as I drank a little bit too much at a friend’s toga birthday party Sunday night and left the camera- with all the Etsy photos behind and didn’t get it back until last night!  I’m working all day today to try to get them up.  I’m obsessed with shorts right now and have some great fitting vintage denim basics from Guess and Levi’s.  We have an amazing vintage Christian Dior blazer, an awesome striped nautical romper, sheer cut out American Apparel style swimsuit- just better since it’s the vintage original and one of a kind!  Along with great shoes and boots, original vintage riding pants, and lots more great items!  Here is a sneak peek of what’s to come this week:
