Patriotic Looks for July 4th

3 Jul

One of my favorite holidays has always been the Fourth of July- it’s always hot out, marking that time of year saying “summer is officially here”!  Barbecues, beach time, friends, parties and fireworks has always been fun times ever since my childhood, and continues to be great fun as an adult.  Since red, white, and blue happen to be one of my favorite color schemes as well, there are plenty of patriotic options available at Castaway Vintage.

New Etsy Listing: Rosemary’s Baby Dress

24 Jun

No, it’s not one of the actual dresses worn by Mia Farrow in “Rosemary’s Baby”, BUT is an absolutely adorable vintage 1960’s mod babydoll dress very reminiscent of the type worn by Farrow in the film.

Last week when I did a photoshoot and new listings on Etsy, they all sold out before I could even put an update on here!  But I saved the best for last, and am giving my blog readers first dibs on this awesome little dress.

I can’t decide which side I like better- the front, or the back!  They both have the cutest collars and detailing!

A Honeylane  original, children’s dress made by Sears!  Don’t miss out, buy it here at Castaway Vintage!

50’s Shorts

18 Jun

Happy Friday! I almost died when I found these vintage 1950’s blue and white gingham plaid high waisted shorts from Sears Junior Bazaar- from what I gather, the ‘teen’ diffusion line of the retro Sears fashion label. Perfect for a picnic! Plaid is one of my favorite prints along with stripes and polka dots, and blue is one of my favorite colors along with red!  They are cut so well and shaped just oh so perfectly, from an era where cut and fit truly mattered, and clothing was crafted with care and quality.

A classic era where shorts were rarely worn anywhere besides the beach, yet were embodied by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Betty Grable.

I paired them with a classic white button down and my favorite red wedges.  I really wish they were my size, but since they aren’t, they can be found now in the Etsy shop!

More looks and listings next week!

Have a great weekend!!  xx

New Puppy + Etsy Update

24 Apr

I haven’t been able to post much this week since I’ve been busy with the latest member of the Castaway Vintage Family- my new puppy Bandit!  I definitely was not planning on getting a dog, but was at a friend’s BBQ and after a few drinks I fell in love, and this little guy was found wandering the streets and needed a home!  The first night he barked and cried all night long and we got no sleep at all, but he seems to be settling in for now.  Isn’t he cute?

I’ve also managed to get new listings up during this chaos, some really great dresses and jumpsuits, click on any pic to shop!
