Polka Dots

31 Jul

I must say- polka dots are one of my favorite prints.  I have thing for symmetry and clean lines, and primary colors- there’s just something so classic about polka dots.  I love stripes, plaid, colors black, white, red, and navy blue.  I have polka dot dishes, along with my huge red and white plaid living room chair, and my black and white striped bedroom curtains.

So when I first saw this jumpsuit it was more like a long mass of droopy fabric and dots with a belt dangling off of it shoved in between some long dresses, and I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it, it seemed really odd; like it could be a hit or really, really bad miss.  Even after I first put it on I had to do the whole send a camera phone pic text message to the boyfriend, since I didn’t know if it was “too weird”.  Well, it got his approval and after checking out the photos, and seeing that it sold out as soon as I listed it at Castaway Vintage I guess it turned out to be a hit.  It’s funny how seeing clothes on in a photograph gives you a whole different perspective than a mirror can. I actually really love how it’s got kinda this 50’s meets 80’s vibe with the off shoulders and fitted waist shape.  Too bad I didn’t get to actually wear it anywhere besides this little photoshoot for our new items going up on Etsy.  😦

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Had a great night out last night seeing local bands Black Apples, Dante vs. Zombies, and Grand Elegance play.  If you haven’t heard of them, definitely check them out for some good rock-n-roll.  Did some brunch with the other half today before he went to work this afternoon, and hope to now work on getting posted the rest of the items we photographed along with this jumpsuit that have been amassing over the past few weeks.  Then off to Orange County tomorrow to camp overnight, then check out some horse races on Monday.  Gots lots of work to do before I can take off for the fun!

As I start planning for the vacation that I’ll be taking next month to Troncones, Mexico for my birthday, I had to start bikini shopping!  For the last 2 years I was lucky enough to snag a bikini from Agent Provocateur– one as a gift and happened to find another one on sale.  They just came out with a new swim collection that I’m dying for!!   Such amazing cuts and vintage inspired designs and prints- now  if I only I can find someone to buy one for me this year….
