Tons of new listings in the shop now- updates will be added here this week, but for now just enjoying Sunday morning, and thinking of the song I love by artist Margo Guryan. Enjoy!
I keep hearing about snow storms hitting all over the country, and having spent 27 years of my life in NY- I’m totally loving this LA winter and our photoshoots outside!! I know this is probably going to be my last winter in the sun, as my East coast roots having been tugging at me lately, and I’m trying to enjoy as much of it as possible before I have to endure those brutal winters again!
I just posted this vintage 1990’s polka dot babydoll mini dress in the shop this morning- I absolutely adore it and as much as I hate to give it up, I have to make a living and my boyfriend is telling me I have ‘too many polka dots’ (really? is that possible???). It’s got great details with the dolman shape cap sleeve, empire waist, and full skirting. Ready to be loved by a new lucky owner!

It’s not very often that I gravitate towards 70’s style dresses, as most of my taste tends towards more of a 60’s or 90’s edge, though I LOVE 70’s high waisted jeans and wedges!! I found this dress last week and just really loved the sheer delicate fabric with the pleating on top, loose airy sleeves, burgundy tones and mixed prints. After I put it on to style for the shop, I’m wondering why I don’t have more 70’s dresses- this is super cute! I guess I’m just a person of habit and tend to steer away from ‘the unknown’ and re-buy the same sort of thing that I KNOW I like (polka dots, stripes, plaid, 60’s mini dresses, 90’s babydoll and bodycon). I guess 2011 is about venturing out a bit more, and hope to reflect that in the shop with a bit more variety, while staying true to style integrity. I hope you like this dress as much as I do, this and more up now at Castaway Vintage!

How cute is this hooded plaid cape we found recently for Castaway Vintage? I love plaid, and the neutral tones and hood add some really great details! We just did a new photo shoot on Friday, and have some really great items going into the shop this week! And, as blogging has been a little slow lately, I promise to be bringing regular posts!!

One of our most sought after pieces this season, recently featured in the Etsy Newsletter, and with close to 2,000 views and 85 Etsy ‘Hearts’ – the classic vintage wool 1960’s Camel Cape, is now on sale!! Most recently listed for $145, I have now dropped the price to $95, after noticing a few tiny moth holes on the back acquired over the winter in storage. Really not too noticeable with how the cape drapes in the back, and still a stunning clean classic piece!! Compare to over $160 at American Apparel for plain, mass produced generic versions!!
Also, we have tons of new listing that have been going up lately, almost daily- and selling out quick! Be sure to visit us on Etsy at Castaway Vintage for all of our latest finds!!
I must admit, we’ve gotten behind (again!) on listings for the shop. With holidays, birthday vacation to Barbados for the other half’s 30th, and foul weather, the clothing racks in the spare room have been getting filled up with great goodies while we were too busy with life to get them photographed and onto the Etsy shop. We have been experimenting with taking photos indoors now that it hasn’t stopped raining for a week in LA- there’s room for improvement, but it’s a start and I’m happy to at least get started making a portion of our goods available again. Just listed this week we have a ton of dresses- 60’s mod shift, 50’s shirtwaist, and 90’s grunge. Also some great ankle booties and riding boots, which have been selling out quickly. Check them out at Castaway Vintage! Hope everyone enjoys the holidays!
